Idea for display - bookshelf with glass doors. this one is shorter, so it’d go in my bedroom and not be the primary display.

Idea for display - bookshelf display case with glass doors. The horizontal doors look a lot better than the vertical ones for dioramas, but they’re a style that’s harder to find.

“This collar is made of particularly fine batiste or cambric. As the name suggests, the material originally came from the Flemish town of Kamerijk or Cambrai. It was introduced to the Northern Netherlands by the Flemish refugees who arrived in the late sixteenth century. Haarlem weavers specialised in the fabric. Because of its shape, this kind of collar was known as a millstone ruff. These became fashionable in the second half of the sixteenth century under the influence of the Spanish rulers. Early millstone ruffs were starched with regular pleats. This example, however, is looser and less tidy. It is of a type that was popular with young, fashionable men around 1615 to 1635.
This is the only surviving pleated ruff in the world.”
I’m about to embark on cartridge pleating 8 metres of fabric down to 12” for myself. *whimper*
With apologies to Anne Boleyn, at least I have a little neck!
This makes me quite grateful I only want to make a neck ruff in 1:6 scale.

This is a house in our neighborhood that is on our walk route. It has been empty for about 3 years and it makes me sad every time we pass it.
It has a great circular walkway you can see in the pic that should have a beautiful garden in it but is instead full of weedy violets. There is still a concrete post near the street that was used as a place to tie horses. Every season it looks more and more depressing and it kills me that there are neighborhoods popping up on the edge of town with shitty new construction houses, and this gem keeps sitting here, empty, crumbling a little more each year.
Idea for diorama/display - front porch with walkway as seen above
